CE certification is a mandatory safety mark for products stipulated by EU law and serves as a pass for products to enter the European market. High-temperature furnaces, as a type of industrial furnace, fall within the category of mechanical directives under the EU CE certification directives. They typically need to comply with Mechanical Directives 2006/42/EC and Low Voltage Directives 2006/95/EC. In many cases, they also need to meet the assessment and certification requirements of Electromagnetic Compatibility Directives 2004/108/EC.

Without a CE certificate, products may be detained by customs, returned, and even face heavy fines and damage to reputation

Applying for CE certification for high-temperature furnaces usually involves processes such as determining the directive standards, submitting the application, and product testing, as detailed below 1

1. Determine the applicable directives and standards: High-temperature furnaces generally apply the Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC, the Low Voltage Directive 2006/95/EC, and may also need to comply with the Electromagnetic Compatibility Directive 2004/108/EC, etc. It is necessary to understand the specific standards and testing requirements under these instructions.

2. Select a certification body: If the high-temperature furnace is a high-risk product, it is necessary to entrust a third-party certification body with authorized qualifications, such as TUV, SGS, etc. For some low-risk products, self-declaration can be adopted, but it is necessary to ensure compliance with relevant regulatory requirements.

3. Submit the application: Submit the CE certification application to the certification body, providing basic information about the high-temperature furnace such as model, specification, and manufacturer information, and attach the prepared technical documents at the same time.

4. Review of Documents: The certification body reviews the submitted technical documents to check if they are complete and standardized, and whether they meet the requirements of CE certification. If the documents do not meet the requirements, the certification body will notify the applicant to make modifications.

5. Product Testing: Send the high-temperature furnace samples to the laboratory designated by the certification body for testing. The testing content may include electrical safety, mechanical safety, electromagnetic compatibility, etc., to ensure that the products comply with the safety and performance requirements of relevant EU directives. If the test is not qualified, the applicant needs to improve the product and retest it until it is qualified.

6. Prepare technical documents: In accordance with the requirements of the certification body, prepare detailed technical documents, such as product manuals, design drawings, material lists, risk assessment reports, etc., as proof that the product complies with the requirements of EU directives, for review and retention by the certification body.

7. Prepare the declaration of conformity: The manufacturer or authorized representative drafts the declaration of conformity, stating that the product complies with the requirements of relevant EU directives and standards, and signs to confirm.

8. Obtaining the CE certificate: After the product passes the test and the technical documents are reviewed and approved, the certification body will issue the CE certificate, indicating that the high-temperature furnace complies with the relevant regulations of the European Union and can enter the European market.

9. Affix the CE marking: Clearly and permanently affix the CE marking on the high-temperature furnace product or its packaging and nameplate. If there is a certification body announcement number, it should also be marked, along with a declaration of conformity.
